How to Crush Your Goals + Make Things Happen
How to Crush Your Goals + Make Things Happen
Most of us have goals that we start putting into place when the New Year rolls around. About now, you might be losing your momentum—that’s where goal setting comes into play!
If we want different results, we have to do something different.
For many, the New Year lights a fire under our booties, motivating us to do more, be more, have more. Yet we all go through periods of overwhelm (Where do I start?) and feelings of self-doubt (Who am I to do…?) and asking ourselves, “What should I do?”
The purpose of setting goals is to grow, right? Well, if you’re not stretching yourself beyond your comfort zone, where are you growing?
As kids, there were no limits to the dreams we dreamed, what we wanted to do, and who we wanted to be; we were unstoppable. It’s now, as adults, that we doubt ourselves and question our abilities, worth, skills, talents, and even those “absolute” dreams.
So, what happened? We got lost in a world who told us who, how, and what we should be, robbing us of our dreams but, most importantly, our identity. We blindly get lost in our new world, our reality.
Let’s take a minute to reflect on our younger, more invincible selves. Chances are you might have been onto something, and your younger self may have already seen those future dreams. Once you connect with yourself and that dream ignites a passion within, declare it, say it out loud, tell a friend, write it down—whatever you do, make it known and make it count!
Well, I’m here to tell you the truth. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. We just have to believe it! You were meant to crush your goals and make your dreams happen!
And if you’re not crushing it yet, no worries. Give yourself some grace, and keep going. That’s the trick to any goal, right? Do one thing each day to move you closer to your dream. We must remember that more than getting to our desired results, how we get there matters.
Getting Stronger Physically and Mentally is about turning a healthy lifestyle into your default.
That starts with awareness, accountability, and affirmation. This is why I created the Fit From Within: 60-Days to Finding Freedom digital journal to bring awareness to why you do what you do.
Not only is journaling a powerful way to connect your mind, body, and soul, but it’s also therapeutic. By writing, you express how you feel, (negative or positive) thoughts, feelings, and behavior every day, you’ll start to see the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, which eventually become your actions.
Let’s dive into your “Why.” When you know your “Why,” the “How” is the easy step. We set our “Why” as our North Star, guiding and keeping us focused along the way. When we step one foot in front of the other, we move forward toward our goals. It’s when we veer off the path that we need to regain focus and shift our view back on our “Why.” We surrender to what is and let go of what isn’t.
Along the way, you’ll get distracted. It’s all part of the journey, and sometimes, that off-path is there for a reason, to teach you or prepare you for what lies ahead. Other times, we get sidetracked for a more extended period, lose sight of our goal, bury ourselves in distractions—all the shiny objects, newest fads, the sparkling new wizardry—but all of those are distractions. When you’re purpose-driven, you must turn a blind eye to what isn’t going to get you where you want to be. Consistency compounded over time yields results.
Here’s a recap to help you evaluate the goals you set:
- Do your goals align with your “Why” purpose, mission, or dream?
- Are your goals intended to complete you or compete with others?
- Are your goals stretching you to grow outside your comfort zone?
- Are your goals SMART goals?
- Who have you told to help hold you accountable?
- Are your goals so big that they scare you?
Now that you have the insight, declaration, purpose, passion, drive, and tools—go out and crush your goals and make things happen!
