You Haven’t Failed. You’ve Changed.

A few years ago, I wrote a book about letting go of who I thought I was supposed to be. Chasing Perfection was my way of working through the version of myself I’d been performing for years: the pressure, the proving, the constant feeling that I needed to be more than I already was. Writing it changed something in me. I thought I’d figured out the hard part.

And then life kept going.

I find myself in a completely different season now, and most days I’m still working out what that means. There’s a gap between the life I built and the one I’m still defining, and I’ve been sitting in that gap long enough to know it doesn’t just close on its own. Growth doesn’t stop after one breakthrough. The questions I thought I’d already answered keep showing up in new forms: who am I now? What actually matters to me in this season? What am I carrying that belongs to an older chapter? What do I want my life to look and feel like — not the life I had five years ago, not the one that looks impressive from the outside, but the one that actually fits who I am today?

Those aren’t comfortable questions. And if you’re asking them too, it doesn’t mean something went wrong.

It means you’ve changed.

Here’s what I’ve come to understand about seasons that feel like starting over: most of us aren’t in crisis. We’re in transition. A crisis is something breaking down. A transition is something being outgrown. And when a life has been outgrown, the feeling isn’t failure — it’s friction. The friction of trying to fit a new version of yourself into an old structure that was built for who you used to be.

That friction is costing you something real.

You’re exhausted in a way that sleep doesn’t fix. The energy is going toward maintaining a version of your life that stopped fitting a long time ago, showing up for everything and everyone while losing the thread of what you actually want. The measuring never stops either: comparing yourself against a version of yourself who had it more together, felt more certain, seemed to know where she was going, and the gap between who you are now and who you keep trying to be just keeps widening.

Underneath all of it is a question most of us avoid: what if the life I’ve been trying to get back to doesn’t exist anymore?

It doesn’t. But what’s here now is more honest than what was.

Starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing. It means starting from wisdom, from experience, from the version of yourself who has lived through enough to finally stop pretending and start building something true. It means asking different questions — not how do I get back, but what do I actually want from here? Not from who you used to be. From here. From this woman who has survived, rebuilt, questioned everything, and is still standing.

That is the work Becoming The Confident Woman was built for.

A guided journey for the woman who knows she’s in a season of becoming and wants the support to actually move through it. We go through identity, self-trust, confidence, and purpose — the practical, honest, faith-rooted work of becoming the woman God designed you to be in this season, not the one you were years ago. This is where you stop measuring yourself against an older version and start building from who you actually are.

If you’ve been sitting in that gap between the life you built and the one you’re still defining, this is where the real work begins.

Becoming The Confident Woman

Scripture for the Soul

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” — Proverbs 16:9

You don’t need the whole map. You need the next step and the faith to take it. That’s where trust grows.

Points to Ponder

  • What version of yourself have you been measuring yourself against, and when did she actually stop being the right standard?
  • What would your life look like if you stopped trying to get back to something and started building forward from here?
  • What is one thing you know needs to change that you’ve been defending instead of addressing?

So, tell me. What’s one thing you’ve been trying to get back to that you might actually need to let go of?
