From Chasing Success to Finding Freedom: A Year of Review & Reflection
As I sat down to write this letter, I knew it had to be different. This isn’t just a newsletter; it’s a reflection, a story, and an invitation. It’s about where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, and where I’m headed. It’s about letting you in, pulling back the curtain, and sharing the messy, beautiful, transformative journey that’s brought me to this moment.
The last few years were some of the hardest of my life. 2022 and 2023 broke me in ways I didn’t know were possible. They left me stripped of my identity, my purpose, and even my connection to myself. I felt lost in every sense of the word.
But this year? 2024 was different. It wasn’t about building something new—it was about picking up the pieces of what was left and rebuilding from the ashes. It was about healing, redeeming, and restoring.
If I’m being honest, I didn’t realize how far off the path I had wandered until this year. I thought I was living my purpose, chasing success, and doing what I was meant to do. But somewhere in the pursuit, I got lost.
Lost in the noise of the world’s expectations. Lost in the hustle for more—more visibility, more achievements, more external validation. Lost in trying to prove my worth to everyone but myself.
The truth hit me like a ton of bricks: I had conformed to the world’s idea of success, and it was destroying me.
This year, I finally stopped. I stopped chasing, striving, and proving. I stopped running from the broken pieces of who I thought I had to be and began the work of undoing, unlearning, and healing.
At the start of the year, I was invited to a retreat—a “Jesus Retreat.” I had no idea what to expect, but I said yes because something deep inside me knew I needed it.
I needed to reconnect—not just with myself, but with Jesus.
What I didn’t realize was that this retreat would become the catalyst for everything that followed. It wasn’t just a retreat; it was a reckoning.
One evening, I heard it. A verse from Isaiah that pierced through the noise in my mind: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)
In that moment, I realized how far I’d drifted from the woman God called me to be. I wasn’t living in alignment with His purpose for me. I had let the world’s definition of success hijack my identity and my calling.
But here was God, meeting me in the wilderness, promising to make a way, just as He did all those years ago when He first called me Out of the Shadows and Into the Light. (Fun fact: this was the original placeholder title of my book, which is now Chasing Perfection.)
Leaving that retreat, I felt like a new creation. I had a renewed sense of purpose and clarity. I knew I couldn’t keep living the way I had been.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)
This year became about reclaiming my power.
Undoing the hustle mindset that told me I had to prove my worth through achievements. Unlearning the patterns of self-doubt and fear that kept me small. Healing the parts of me that felt unseen, unheard, and unworthy.
And in that process, I found freedom—the freedom to lead with love, live with confidence, and empower others to do the same.
For the first time ever, I’m opening my calendar to YOU—my community.
This is more than a call; it’s a chance to connect on a personal level. Whether you’re seeking clarity, exploring your next steps, or simply needing someone to listen, I want to create space for you.
Space is limited, so don’t wait. Let’s take the first step together toward creating a life of freedom, purpose, and confidence.
This year also brought opportunities to share my story in meaningful ways. Here are just a few recent publications:
