The Hidden Cost of Always Holding It Together

The Hidden Cost of Always Holding It Together

For years, I thought being exhausted was just “normal.” That if I wanted success, I had to push harder, smile wider, and keep showing up even when I was running on fumes.

I wore exhaustion like a badge of honor. If I was busy, I felt important. If I was tired, I must be doing something right.

But here’s the truth I had to face: exhaustion isn’t strength. It’s a signal. It’s your body and soul telling you, “This isn’t working.”

Maybe you’ve felt it too—the constant fog, the irritability, the weight of holding it all together on the outside while crumbling on the inside. You promise yourself you’ll rest “when things slow down,” but they never do.

Exhaustion isn’t weakness. It isn’t failure. It’s an invitation. A call to stop striving long enough to realign, reset, and rebuild on a foundation that doesn’t crack under pressure.

This week, I want to help you see exhaustion differently—not as a life sentence, but as a turning point toward renewal.

3 Steps to Restore Your Energy

1. Stop dismissing your signals. The brain fog, the mood swings, the sleepless nights—your body isn’t betraying you, it’s calling out to you. Instead of ignoring the signs, ask: What needs to change for me to feel alive again?

2. Replace striving with rhythms of rest. Hustle may produce results, but it will never sustain your soul. Build small rhythms of pause into your days: five minutes of quiet in the morning, a midday walk, or the courage to say “no” to what drains you. Rest is not a reward—it’s fuel.

3. Nourish body and spirit. Caffeine and grit aren’t long-term solutions. True renewal happens when you feed your body with real nourishment and your soul with God’s presence. When both align, energy becomes restoration, not survival.

3 Points to Ponder

  • Where are you pushing yourself past your limits and ignoring what your body is telling you? What would it look like to create guilt-free space for rest?
  • How could your life shift if you trusted God to hold what you’ve been trying to carry alone?

Take these into your journal this week. Let them uncover where you’ve been running on empty.

Scripture for the Soul

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15

This verse reminds us that strength isn’t found in striving—it’s discovered in surrender. God invites us into quietness and trust, not because He wants us to do less, but because He knows rest is where we’re renewed. Exhaustion fades when dependence deepens.

Exhausted but Still Showing Up: How to Rest, Reset, and Reclaim Your Energy

If you’ve been tired beyond what sleep can fix, this episode will help you see exhaustion in a new light. I share how I’ve walked through seasons of burnout, the patterns that keep us stuck, and the practices that can help you finally breathe again. If you’ve been running on fumes, trying to “push through” but secretly unraveling on the inside, this conversation will meet you right where you are and hand you permission to pause, reset, and refill. → Listen here

Ready to Go Deeper?

Exhaustion doesn’t have to define your story. These resources were created to help you pause, reset, and reclaim your confidence from the inside out:

  • The 10-Minute Reset (Free) A simple, faith-fueled guide to break free from overwhelm and realign your mind with God’s truth.
  • Chasing Perfection + Bonus Bundle The book that started it all—plus journal prompts, a self-love guide, and the 7-Day Fit From Within reset.
  • I Am… Becoming (6-Week Devotional Journey) A raw, voice-note style devotional experience to release what’s been holding you back and walk boldly in freedom.

Reminder, exhaustion doesn’t have to be your “normal.” You don’t have to prove your worth through hustle or carry life on your own. God’s invitation is rest, renewal, and freedom.

So this week, let exhaustion be your signal—not your identity. Pause. Reset. And remember: your strength is found not in how much you can hold, but in the One who holds you.

Keep leaning into faith, keep showing up with courage, and know this—you were never meant to do this alone.

XO,

P.S. Forward this newsletter to a friend who’s been saying “I’m fine” when she’s anything but. She needs the reminder that she’s not alone.
